LEBRON BROTHERS
In the early 1960s, the combination of traditional African-American music with Latin beats exploded onto the scene and was adopted by such artists as The Lebron Brothers, who helped to popularize the exciting genre. Their influence and popularity has challenged the stereotype of what is commercially acceptable on the radio. The LeBron Brothers are arguably one of the greatest bands of Latin music: guaguanco, bugaloo, Latin soul, but especially salsa. In the ate 1960’s, at the height of the bugaloo craze, the LeBron Brothers struck out from their home in Brooklyn, New York to begin a legendary career recording more than a dozen albums over the span of about 30 years. Remarkable artists who left a remarkable legacy, the secret to their success was their knowledge of music, harmony and composition, but above all, their rhythm. These elements were well honed in their recordings. The brothers include José, Angel, Francisco, Carlos and Pablo, who in 1981, suffered a heart attack that forced him to retire. The family tradition continued.
