Since its original conception by producer Aaron Levinson in 2000, Spanish Harlem Orchestra (SHO) has established itself as a standard bearer of contemporary Latin music. Directed by world-renowned pianist, arranger, and producer Oscar Hernández, the thirteen-member all-star ensemble has reintroduced the classic sounds of New York City Salsa to music lovers worldwide. nd continues in the same classic-meets-contemporary sound, but with refreshing originality.
“Our music style is the original sound of New York old school "Salsa dura" (heavy salsa) that was played in the early years by our pioneers,” says Oscar. “That sound has been lost and we want to keep it alive while educating the new generations (and music lovers in general) on the true musical roots of our culture.” Oscar adds, “we’ve brought back the essence of what makes this music great and are keeping the salsa spirit alive in our recordings and shows.” The arrangers include Sonny Bravo, Gil Lopez, Angel Fernandez, Jose Febles and myself,” says Oscar.
The Special guest the great composer and singer from Panama RUBEN BLADES, shares vocals with regular SHO members Ray De La Paz, Marco Bermudez and Willie Torres.

Con la produccion de Oscar Hernandez y Aaron Levinson, fundador de la banda alla por el año 2000, llega este segundo Cd de la Spanish Harlem Orchestra. Luego de dos nominaciones al Grammy, obtienen este premio en el 2004 con Across 110. Deleitandonos así con este nuevo trabajo, completamente grabado en vivo en el estudio, sin tecnicas o efectos digitales y con la participacion de la leyenda de la salsa Ruben Blades en 4 de las 13 canciones que lo componen. La incomparable combinacion de la percusion, con las trompetas y los coros tienen la capacidad de mantener tanto al oyente como al bailador hipnotizado con la musica.Un disco excelente por donde se lo escuche. Esta orquesta la componen un grupo de excelentísimos músicos, entre los que se destacan el pianista y director Oscar Hernández, los trompetistas John Walsh y Peter Náter, los trombonistas Jimmy Bosch y Daniel Reagan, el saxofonista y flautista Mitchell Frohman y el percusionista Luisito Quintero.
