THE AIRMEN OF NOTE: Tiempo Latino! - A Celebration of Latin Jazz

THE AIRMEN OF NOTE - mais um "torpedo" disparado pelos extraordinários Airmen. Pra mim, uma das melhores bandas de jazz do planeta...
--------------
THE AIRMEN OF NOTE
It has been said that jazz is "America's classical music," and, as such, it has always relied on a diverse combination of influences for continued growth and vitality. The traditional big band has long been one of the most versatile vehicles for jazz composers and arrangers to express this diversity, while pursuing new and exciting sounds. Likewise, the big band's combination of trumpets, trombones, saxophones/woodwinds and the traditional rhythm section has offered an attractive musical palette for many performing artists. From its roots as the direct descendant of Glenn Miller's Army Air Forces Band, the Airmen of Note has championed the development of this American musical genre, and it continues to forge the path of big band jazz, incorporating a multitude of cultural and ethnic influences
along the way. Latin jazz first appeared on the scene in the 1930s and '40s with such
artists as Xavier Cugat, Machito and many others. Brilliant horn sections and hard driving syncopated rhythms characterized the music. Over the years, a variety of instrumental combinations and increased rhythmic complexity have added to the genre's appeal and sophistication. The blend of Latin influences on this recording spans North and South America, Europe, Africa and Cuba. You'll hear many styles represented including the classic samba, bossa nova and songo styles from Brazil, the Afro-Cuban style and the Spanish bolero. Some of the arrangements are classic in nature, while others are more modern adaptations of standards, reflecting the cutting edge of today's Latin Jazz. We hope you enjoy this exciting collection
on ¡Tiempo Latino!

Arranjos esplêndidos, "groove" irresistível, solistas inspirados, enfim tudo no lugar certo. OURO EM PÓ
