ALBUM REVIEW
I've run a Big Band/Swing webcast station for over three years now, and have heard just about every song Glenn Miller played. This CD (and the present day band that plays the tunes) just doesn't have the spark that the originals did. First off, yes, this is the present-day reconstituted Glenn Miller Orchestra, run by his heirs. This isn't recordings of the original band from the 40s. While the selections are technically sound, the band is really just another band playing the tunes, lacking the fire of the great band that was at the forefront of music in the Swing Era. Their delivery is more post-swing, post lounge, play it safe, "middle of
the road" modern. While a nice CD, I guess, I was expecting much more.

MINHA OPINIÃO: não deixa de ter razão o "Rat Patrol" em seu comentário: faltam
a este "line up" da nova "GM Orchestra" o brilho e o "toque" da original. E isso é curioso porque, afinal de contas, os arranjos seguem o padrão GM e os músicos norte-americanos são sempre muito bons e competentes. AGORA: eu nunca fui grande admirador da orquestra de Glenn Miller; apesar de ser uma legenda, um ícone, parte da história
das big-bands americana, sobretudo pela importância dos "block chords" da sessão de saxofones com o clarinete na primeira voz (o famoso Glenn Miller Sound)- os arranjos já soavam - naquela época - comerciais demais para os meus ouvidos antenados nas bandas de Duke Ellingon e Stan Kenton. Mas isso é apenas a minha opinião, que não deve ser levada em consideração: "o que seria do verde se todos gostassem do vermelho, bla-bla-bla..."
