Quando postei o album "Les liasions dangereuses" com Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, eu falei sobre a "salada" que fizeram na trilha sonora, juntando Art Blakey e Thelonious Monk. Eis que um amigo anônimo do blog me enviou o link com mais um saboroso ingrediente para acrescentar à referida "salada": um álbum gravado pelo quinteto de Duke Jordan em 1962, contendo 3 versões de "No problem" e de mais 3 temas que também fazem parte do álbum de Art Blakey, porém com nomes diferentes.
Aparentemente, Duke Jordan se sentiu lesado e prejudicado e - embora não me lembre - essa questão deve ter dado "pano pra mangas" na ocasião.

Les Liaisons Dangereuses (Venus, 1962)
Collectable's reissue of Duke Jordan's soundtrack for Roger Vadim's film Les Liasions Dangereuses is a straight-up reissue, containing all seven tracks from the original album. Supported by Art Taylor, Eddie Kahn, Charlie Rouse and Sonny Cohn, Jordan plays a laid-back set of bop that only rarely moves over to hard-bop. For the most part, the record consists of romantic or atmospheric mood pieces and while this doesn't capture Jordan at his best, it certainly is enjoyable music.

Duke Jordan's music was used in the soundtrack to Roger Vadim's controversial film Les Liasons Dangereuses, but at times his compositions were re-titled and credited to others. This soundtrack LP, issued by the Charlie Parker label, helped to set the record straight. The pianist is joined by tenor saxophonist Charlie Rouse, trumpeter Sonny Cohn, bassist Eddie Kahn and drummer Art Taylor, playing four hard bop originals, some with more than one variation. Surprisingly, Jordan's solos are rather subdued, as he evidently preferred to focus on others and the ensembles. Even though none of the material left much of a lasting impression, the music is enjoyable. While this disc has been reissued on occasion, it still remains one of the more obscure discs in Duke Jordan's extensive discography.

MINHA OPINIÃO: pelo teor dos comentários acima, a temperatura a respeito da trilha sonora da "Ligações Perigosas" foi alta e Duke Jordan não parece ter ficado satisfeito com o sabor da "salada". Só falta agora alguém aparecer com um link para os temas de Thelonious Monk, para completar a trilha sonora, tal como apareceu no filme.
