ALBUM RELEASE:
Gaviota (Discovery Records) is a compilation of Poncho's FIRST two albums on one disc. His first album entitled Poncho, is featured on tracks 1-4, and his second album Straight Ahead, is featured on tracks 5-9. Poncho was recorded on January 10, 1979, Straight Ahead on March 12, 1980, and both were recorded at TTG Studios in Los Angeles California.

MY OPINION: as usual Poncho Sanchez delivers sofly, elegant and classy music. In this album Mr. Sanchez is supported by a "dream team" comprised of some of the best jazz musicians. Noticeable the presence of the great CLARE FISCHER, who penned "Pensativa" and "Morning", landmarks of "bossa-nova" and "latin jazz" styles.

MINHA OPINIÃO: os albuns de Poncho Sanchez são sempre muito elegantes, na mesma linha do seu grande herói, Cal Tjader. Neste CD, a presença do gigante CLARE FISCHER e suas composições
"Pensativa" e " Morning", dois hinos da bossa-nova e do latin-jazz elevam a aludida classe ao seu mais alto nível. Eu já ia dizer que o combo é mais um dos incontáveis "dream-teams" que passam por aqui, mas seria muita falta de imaginação, não é mesmo?
