This is one more rare LP from Pacific Jazz catalog. Jazz West Coast, an anthology of California music, is a collection of 5 albuns containingf unissued and alternate takes from the musical files of WP label. Some of these takes are present in re-editions of original Pacific Jazz LP in CD format as bonus tracks.

(*) To whom it may concern: a few months ago I´ve posted a gorgeous album with Art Pepper, Shorty Rogers and Stan Kenton. Most compositions have been penned by the "giant" Shorty and I consider those themes an authentic "string of pearls". If you are a "west coast jazz addicted", I´m sure that you will be delighted. Just click on the name of Art, Shorty or Stan in the blog labels and be happy!

MINHA OPINIÃO - o primeiro CD da série, conforme comentei, teve para mim um valor sentimental muito grande. Os demais, nem tanto. O formato é o mesmo: excelentes combos formados por músicos do primeiro time da Califórnia. Grandes temas, grandes performances e arranjos.

(*)Para os apreciadores do estilo "west coast": no blog tem outra pérola que postei há alguns meses; trata-se de um álbum sensacional de Art Pepper com Shorty Rogers e Stan Kenton. Basta clicar no link com o nome de qualquer um deles, nos "labels" ali ao lado e se deliciar, principalmente com os grandes temas compostos pelo "gigante" Shorty.

(**) A quem interessar: encontrei dois artigos muito interessantes, versando sobre diferentes estilos de jazz ("west coast", "east coast", "cool", "post bop", etc.) suas origens, principais músicos e grupos. Vale a pena conferir.
