FRANCISCO AGUABELLA, live at Steamer´s
O grande percussionista cubano FRANCISCO AGUABELLA - um dos ícones do "afro-latin-jazz" - faleceu no dia 7 de maio p.p. em Los Angeles, vítima de câncer.
R.I.P Señor Aguabella...

One of the last “Giants’ of Latin Music, Afro-Cuban percussionist Francisco Aguabella died in Los Angeles on May 7, 2010 of a cancer-related illness.
“Aguabella is the John Coltrane of the Conga Drums.” – Dizzy Gillespie
This is sad, no matter what age Francisco was reaching. He was still going strong, doing festivals throughout the summer in Los Angeles (some free), and had a somewhat regular gig at Steamer’s in Fullerton. It was pretty damn amazing, to see him with that strength, rhythm and dexterity at that age - 85 years old. He was a national treasure, and will be missed.
